Endy Assefa, The President

Endegnanew “Endy” Assefa is a tourism professional who has graduated in Bachelor of Arts in Tourism Development with a very great distinction from Adama University and also Master of Arts in Tourism Development and Management from Addis Ababa University.

Endy has more than 10 years of experience working as a Tour operator and Tour guide/ leader with local and international tour companies. 

 

His professional capabilities, attention to detail, diverse skills set, and charismatic charm allow him to deliver highly personalized experiences and develop rich, trusting, and meaning relationships with everyone he works with.

Mr. Endy is passionate about presenting the country’s great natural and historical heritage to visitors from all around the world. It is his ambition to help showcase Ethiopia as a premier tourist destination. He looks forward to helping individuals from all around the globe learn more about & experience Ethiopia.

Kibrom Tesfay, Vice President

Kibrom was born in Tigray region, northern Ethiopia, considered as an open air museum.

He gained the passion of tourism since his childhood, being grew up in a religious area and getting an opportunity to work as a translator for foreign researchers while he as in high school is the first blessing to passionate him in tourism.

Aside from modern Education BA degree in tourism management, BA degree pure management, a 

diploma tour guide and many short courses. He was made to follow religious education, a golden opportunity that had made him very familiar with Ethiopia’s top religious sights.

 

Kibrom is passionate in guiding, traveling, Giving a professional career for the last sixteen years. He has also worked as office manager, trainer and many other tourisms related activity.

 

Kibrom is a founding member of The Ethiopian tourist guides professional association, and now he is the vice president of the association.

Abel Mekonnen, The Secretary General

Abel Mekonnen’s journey began in the breathtaking landscapes of Arbaminch, Ethiopia. Inspired by the influx of tourists to his hometown, he harbored a childhood dream of becoming a tour guide. Pursuing his passion, Abel embarked on a path that led him from local guiding in Arbaminch and the Omo Valley to the bustling capital, Addis Ababa. There, he honed his skills at the renowned Tourism Institute, graduating with expertise in tour guiding, operation supervision, and tourism management.

Since 2008, Abel has dedicated himself to sharing Ethiopia’s wonders with visitors, initially as a freelance guide before founding his own tour company in 2011. As a cultural ambassador for his beloved country, Abel finds fulfillment in blending his hobby with his profession, ensuring travelers experience the richness of Ethiopia’s heritage. Beyond his role in tourism, Abel’s academic pursuits have further enriched his understanding of Ethiopia’s diverse culture. With diplomas in theology and international trade, alongside a BA in International Trade and

 

Investment Management, Abel brings a multifaceted perspective to his work. His recent international diploma in international freight forwarding and ongoing studies in classical liturgical language Ge’ez at Holy Trinity Theological University underscore his commitment to continuous learning and understanding. His deaconship at the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church also helped him in guiding well the northern part of Ethiopia, or historic route, which is mainly characterized by the church heritage.

On top of touring throughout his country, Abel also traveled to learn about other countries’ tourism, such as the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, South Africa, Kenya, and Eritrea.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Abel proudly serves as the General Secretary of the Ethiopian Tourist Guides Professional Association, demonstrating his dedication to advancing the tourism industry in Ethiopia.

Yonas Tiku, In charge of Treasures

Yonas Tiku, with over 15 years of experience as a tourist guide, holds a BA Degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Addis Ababa University and a Masters Degree in Tourism and Hotel Management from Debre Berhan University. His passion for tourism ignited during teaching students in Tigray. Yonas attend Tour Guiding at CTTI, later becoming a part-time instructor. His position as a Senior Travel Coordinator at an NGO in Addis Ababa equipped him with invaluable skills and connections, paving the way for his own business.

Specializing in birth family searches and adoptive family tours, Yonas offers tailored experiences combining heritage exploration with sightseeing.

Known for his ethical conduct and deep knowledge of Ethiopian history and culture, Yonas is praised for his professionalism, reliability, and personalized approach to tour planning. His extensive network ensures top-quality services throughout the journey.

Edena Taye, Head of Finance

Edena Taye Tokon’s journey began in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1981. After attending elementary school at Nativity Girls School, she moved to Germany at the age of 10, where she completed her elementary and high school education in Berlin. Returning to Ethiopia, she finished high school at Akaki Adventist School with a dream and passion to become a tourist guide.

In April 2006, she obtained her diploma in Tour Guiding from Lion Ethiopia Tourism and Hotel Management Institute, complemented by numerous short courses and volunteer contributions.

Over the past 16 years, she has worked tirelessly as a German-speaking tour guide, fostering social, economic, historical, and cultural exchanges among tourists visiting Ethiopia from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

Her notable achievements include founding and serving as the president of the Ethiopian Women’s Tourist Guides Association for seven years, aimed at encouraging and supporting women in the field. In 2020, she was elected for two terms, serving in roles such as Treasurer, Head of Membership Affairs, and Head of the Financial Department, further demonstrating her commitment and leadership in the tourism industry.
