Membership in the Ethiopian Tourist Guides Professional Association (ETGPA) is a professional designation to strive for with hard work and dedication. Professional status is not just handed to a certain few, but earned by any tourist guide that has made guiding his/her profession.
Membership will be a yearly based and run from the first date when registration is issued and membership payment for the same year is made. Renewal of all memberships will run from September 1 to the end of Pagumen. If renewal continuation is not made within three months, we will be forced to terminate membership and a full application will be required for re-registration.
The following criteria are required to make an application to become a member:
Education (He/she must be qualified in the following…)
A completed appropriate training course from a recognized Institute/College/University or
A minimum of certificate in Tour Guide Field from a recognized Tourism Training Institute or
Individuals who can meet the standard set by Ministry of Culture and Tourism for Tour Guides
Any Kind of valid ID for Ethiopian citizenship
A registered Tax Identification Number (TIN)
Individuals who can meet the standards set by the ministry of Touris, for Tour Guides
For a short term certified individuals, Have a proof of at least 2 years of actively engaged in tourist guiding.
Individuals interested in paying
Registration fee is fixed at ETB 1000.00 (One thousand birr)
Annual Membership fee is fixed at ETB 1000.00(one thousand birr only)
